Barbara Uzcategui Luna
I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela up until my teenage years when my family moved to Orlando, Florida. Although the most important parts of my culture revolve around familial relationships and traditions, this giant move made the need for them imperative. My response to all the change was to use it as an inspiration and an incitement to make art. In my family, art is vital and a source of global culture and emotional stimulation. My work expands upon the beauty of our environments, wherever that may be, with whomever you may be. I use the depth of shadows to exalt the vibrancy of the colors or tones seen when moving through daily life, with a penchant for artistic embellishment by finding the oft-ignored frames of our stories.
